How does the Rule of Nines differ for children?

In infants and young children, the head occupies a larger percentage of TBSA (18%) while the legs occupy less (14% each). This calculator automatically adjusts the percentages when the 'Pediatric' mode is selected.

Why is TBSA calculation important?

Calculating TBSA is critical for determining the severity of a burn and guiding fluid resuscitation needs (using formulas like the Parkland Formula) and deciding if a patient needs a specialized burn center.
