Calcula el Valor Actual Neto (VAN) de una serie de flujos de efectivo.
In finance, a dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow. This is the 'Time Value of Money' principle. When evaluating a long-term project or investment that will pay out over several years, you cannot simply add up the future cash flows; you must 'discount' them back to their value in today's dollars. Net Present Value (NPV) is the gold standard for this calculation. Our NPV Calculator allows you to input an initial investment and a series of future returns, applying a discount rate to show you if the project will actually create value after accounting for the cost of capital.
Cómo funciona
The tool takes each future cash flow and divides it by (1 + r)^t, where 'r' is the discount rate and 't' is the time period. It sums these 'Present Values' and subtracts the initial cost to arrive at the Net Present Value.
Fórmula de cálculo
NPV = Σ [ CF_t / (1 + r)^t ] - Initial_Investment
Calculation Examples
1. **Project**: Invest $10,000 today. Get $4,000 for 3 years at a 10% discount rate. NPV = **-$53.34**. (Slightly losing money after accounting for time value).
